Tre' Sheppard

Here is our speaker that spoke to us for the first part of the week Tre' Sheppard. Great guy, funny, talented, and wise. Very wise. Let me give you a little background of how I know him (sort of). Back in 99' I went to a "PrayerStorm 99' in Colorado Springs, Co with a few of my friends. When we were down there I met a guy named Trent Sheppard, Trent was in a band that had just formed and was really excited about everything. This band was called onehundred hours. I bought their CD cause I thought it was cool and I liked their sound. I remember one of their songs that is widely known today its called, "At the Cross" Great song. Anyway, Here at YWAM Tre' his brother showed up and was our speaker he really hit on Relitive Christianity. Loving God and Loving people. Interesting... With in the last few years Onehundred hours has become a great band out of England (I guess I should have said that earlier) and has started a movement in Africa regarding HIV/AIDS victims very very good ministry you can see that here.
Classes are going into the weekend this week with a new speaker Dean Sherman our DTS leaders father. A guy who grew up in Arco, Idaho and is now traveling the world in a plane 300 days a year. Anyway, He has a few books out and is very knowledgeable (and wise) but, more on that to come. I am going to go to bed now. Peace

  1. I like that his brother's name is Trent. Talk about cool.
So what kind of issues did he talk about when he was discussing relAtive Christianity? Is loving God and loving others something that is individual, and therefore relative?
Doesn't the Bible give some good examples of how loving God and loving people should be fleshed out in our daily lives?
I think it does. James 1:27, for one.

  2. Ezekial 23:20:

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

  3. The Stream
Good episode of Outer Limits was on today, entitled "The Stream"

"In a world where neural implants allow everyone instant access to information, Ryan Unger (GEORGE NEWBERN) is a throwback, a moron. Because of a brain injury he suffered as a child, he's unable to tap into the Stream -- an electronic collection of all human knowledge -- so he struggles in vain to keep up by reading books, a primitive and forgotten art. But, when a virus in the Stream starts killing people by overloading their brains with data, only Ryan has the skills and independence to stop it. Can a primitive human, relying only on books and his own brain, save a world of machine-made geniuses from self-destruction or will the Stream wash over all of them?"

This is something I found while trying to find your blogsite! Since I mentioned names, I thought it would be cool to share with you!

  5. Life can be so random at times.....I am sitting here in Amman, Jordan and was looking online to see if I could find some teachings of Tre's. My search took me to your blog, where I found out you are in a D school and Troy Sherman is your school leader. Is that right? Weird? Tell Troy that his sister's roomate from Switzerland says hello. He probably wont remember me. anyhoo.....blessings!
